Hi guys, I hope your Monday was fantastic! Before getting into today’s ‘message’ I wanted to let you guys know that I WON a cherry pitter from NatashasKitchen! Random-yes, but I am still so excited nonetheless lol I don’t remember the last time I ate a cherry, but you better bet I’m going to go buy some just to test out the new pitter!:) #nerd. I’m sure you all already know about her awesome food blog, but just in case you don’t you really should go check it out (<–No, Natasha did not bribe me to say this).
This week I’m doing standardized testing with the kiddos at school, and remembering how much I hated doing that test when I was a student. I would stress over the problems that I was unsure of, and the words I didn’t know. I saw some of that stress/fear in the students today, and I made sure to be as encouraging as I possibly could. I told each of them how smart they were, and how good they were doing. You guys…if you could see the way their faces lit up when I spoke truth into their little hearts. The confidence boost was almost always immediate and evident. I personally know that if I were more confident in the classroom, then I would have asked more questions, and in turn understood/learned more.
Backtracking to last Friday, I myself got a little confidence boost when someone in a higher position than me gave my work a compliment. Maybe it’s because I just started my job, or maybe I’m lagging in the confidence department, but the woman’s words gave me an extra ‘pep-in-my-step’ for the rest of the day.
On my drive home I thought about my worth/value and how much more belated I should be that the Lord finds value in ME! He cherishes me, and calls me his daughter. Oh what love. undeserved love.
This post is not really about confidence, and compliments, (as there can be people who have a little bit too much:), but rather about reminding those around us of the worth that they already have!
In the words of Britt Nicole:
“This, this is for all the girls, boys all over the world
Whatever you’ve been told, you’re worth more than gold
So hold your head up high, it’s your time to shine
From the inside out it shows, you’re worth more than gold”
Come back tomorow for the East Sister’s Testimony Tuesday!:)
