A few weeks ago I had an idea for this blog. I decided to start a series called Testimony Tuesday as a way for all of us to share our testimonies of how we have come to know and follow the Lord.
When I was 16 and taking baptism prep classes, we had to write out our testimonies and share them with the rest of the group. I remember feeling so scared. I’m not a public speaker, and quite frankly, it was really difficult for me to write out my testimony because I felt like it wasn’t ‘big’ enough. I was born and raised Christian. Accepted Christ into my heart at our church’s summer camp at a young age. Received the Holy Spirit. I am SO grateful for all of these things-beyond grateful actually! I just felt like my testimony wouldn’t really do much for others.
Well the Lord thought differently. He has shown me that He HAS done great and marvelous things in my life, and my life would have turned out so differently had I chosen to walk a different path. I have purpose, and joy, and He says in His Word that I should
“Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. AND
Tell everyone about the amazing things He does” Psalm 96:3
There was one distinct time in my life I remember when life was SO hard and all I could do was cry out to the Lord to comfort and give me His peace which surpasses all understanding. It was when my oldest brother had passed away. My heart was so broken, so full of doubt (in my faith), yet it was then, that I leaned on Him the most. I actually journaled through that time in my life, and looking back now I am just so thankful for how the Lord carried me through. I shared my testimony in a communications course in college, and a girl came up to me and shared a little bit of her testimony/struggle as well.
Maybe my testimony isn’t huge, but my God is! Since accepting Christ into my heart and deciding to follow Him, life has taken so many interesting twists and turns, and it truly would NOT have been the same without the Lord. I really hope to get to know more of our readers and others, and believe that we can all grow and learn so much from one another if we are willing to be bold witnesses for Him. If you’re interested in us sharing your testimony on our blog shoot us a comment or email!
Pastor Craig Fuller once said that witnessing/sharing our faith should be as easy as being a witness of a car accident. You give an account exactly to what you saw/experienced. You may not know all the answers to the questions people may have, but that’s okay. If you are willing to share your story, I firmly believe that the Lord will take care of the rest.
One last thing! I chopped my bangs off today…Actually my hair dresser did.I’m totally digging them. Give me a week and see if I’ll still be saying the same thing right?:) What do you guys think? Yay, nay? Andrey isn’t really big on change, but he warmed up to the new ‘do pretty quickly. Excuse the frizz in the photo…Clearly I need some practice on how to do this new hair of mine.
